Service pupil premium (SPP) funding
The service pupil premium (SPP) provides schools with funding to support pupils with parents in the regular armed forces. Find out which pupils are eligible, how you can identify them and understand how your school can spend the premium.
The purpose of the service pupil premium (SPP) grant is to support children and young people with parents in the regular armed forces.
A child is eligible for the SSP for the 2022-23 financial year if they meet 1 of the following conditions:
- One of their parents is serving in the regular armed forces, and this is registered before the autumn school census deadline or
- They have been registered as a 'service child' at any point since the autumn 2016 census (an ever 6 service child), or
- 1 of their parents died whilst serving in the armed forces and the pupil receives a pension under the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme or the War Pensions Scheme
Pupils in reception to year 11 can receive the SPP funding.
