Pupil questionnaires: attitudes to writing (primary)
Find out how your pupils feel about writing, so you can identify challenges and areas for improvement in your writing provision. Download our survey with pupil voice questions, and see examples from schools and an organisation.
Download our questionnaire
Use it as a starting point and feel free to adapt the questions, answer symbols, fonts and colours to suit your school context best.
There are 12 questions. Ask pupils to:
- Circle their answers to questions 1 to 7
- Tick their answers to questions 8 to 11
- Free-write their answer to question 12
You can ask the class to fill in the questionnaire during lesson time, so you can read the questions out loud and help any pupils who need support answering them.
Younger pupils may need you or a teaching assistant, if available, to scribe for them. Pupils with special educational needs (SEN) and/or English as an additional language (EAL) may also need additional support.
How to analyse your results
Yes/no, multiple choice and point-scale answers
If you're using the questions in our template survey, this would be questions 1 to 11.
